Container Terminals continued

Once construction begins, our active project management service includes site supervision independent of contractors. By remaining on site throughout construction, we can make quick decisions as new issues arise, because we draw on experience gained when planning and designing the project. This supervision, along with a risk management approach throughout the project, helps to keep developments on target in respect of time, quality and budget.

Having worked for a large number of port clients for whom rapid completion and maximum economy have been of prime importance, Royal Haskoning has always responded to produce the most appropriate designs within the tightest timescales and budgets.

When the results of initial investigations are promising, a more detailed study can be commissioned to establish accurately the technical and operational feasibility of the project.

Factors like the availability of a local labour force, communication links and suitable infrastructure are all considered. Along with this study, a detailed plan and cost estimate can be produced. Once approval is given, our team can design all the structures and supporting infrastructure that go to create the facility itself.

Our unique terminal simulation model is often used to compare various possible terminal layouts, taking into account the growing size of vessels and increased traffic. When final designs are produced, they are used to seek tenders from appropriate contractors.
